Dereliction of Duty
The debut was a whirlwind and a whole lot of fun. This, coupled with the demands of work, parenting, and muscling out another manuscript have left me devoid of time for little luxuries—like maintaining this website. I was pleased, however, to declare a few writing victories this past summer:
Placing an essay in Time.com,
Delivering a lecture at Writer’s Digest University’s Virtual SFF Conference, and
Presenting at The Bookish Milspouse’s Inaugural Retreat.
It’s an honor to share my writing, my thinking, and my craft.
In terms of the new manuscript, I’m in the “carpenter” phase of a new manuscript: 30K words in, with a strong outline guiding the way. Fingers crossed for a February delivery of a complete first draft, suitable only for the eyes of my mother (it will be her birthday, after all.)
